inspired by this article !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I was wondering if you knew of a shoe that combines:

- good traction when walking in/on snow/ice

- don’t get all soggy and gross and cold

- sole that wraps around the heel for durability in the car

Mojito Basic Mid GTX

gortex liner, not too bulky to drive with (fits very glove like) and the traction is great. The heal isn’t wraparound, but its extremely durable. I wear out heels and I can’t wear out the heels on my scarpas. They also make a low

I’d love something that fit like Chucks, but was waterproof and had better grip for winter wear. Haven’t found anything yet.

510 guide tennies have always been a fave.

I’ve been through a few of these in my days..

That was me in Siberia, I brought sperries and new balances. Luckily they made us bring our steel toes for the hands on weeks. I wore those to the bar that night.

I have these, and these:

They function well with 3 pedals.

As for Ice traction, thats more about balance. But I have spikes that wrap around the shoes if need be.

not too bulky to drive, thats critical. all the good winter shoes are way to bulky to have any pedal feel

oh good idea! climbing would be both well conforming, but possibly outdoorsy rugged.

Nike is making waterproof Chucks now, dunno if the sole is any better on ice, though.

approach shoes FTW. Somehow I knew you’d be rocking some. Sidenote: I used to be a big 5Ten fan (I had some guide tennies) but I found they wore out too fast. I’m a scarpa man now. The majito is the best all round shoe I’ve ever worn.

In the driving/approach shoes category- Salewa Wildfire. The GTX model is Gore-tex. I’ve had 3 pairs, both lined and unlined. Good for narrower feet.
